A SERIES OF SERMONS

Editor White Bluffs Spokesman:

May I through your columns invite the attention of the public to a series of sermons which it is my purpose to present in the churches beginning at White Bluffs Sunday morning January 19th?

The subjects are these, "I Believe in God," "I Believe in Man," "I Believe in Jesus Christ," "I Believe in The Church," and other similar themes interesting alike to all thinking people.

My reason for presenting these subjects is that we are living in a time of rapid change in thought and belief such as people of the present generation have never before seen.

It is a time of searching inquiry in regard to all accepted beliefs, scientific, political, social and religious.

Such periods have occurred at intervals in the history of the past centuries and they always produce an unsettled and restless attitude of mind on the part of people in general. The past thirty years have witnessed such marvelous advance in scientific knowledge such dramatic progress in invention, and such an outburst of human savagery in war that humanity has lost its bearings. People do not know what to think. An atmosphere of doubt and cynicism prevails and will continue until we have thought our way through to clear vision and trustworthy convictions. Truth does not change, but the presentation of truth must take account of the situation as it is today.

Many older people, whether their youth was spent in this country or in lands across the sea, will realize that their children are not receiving the benefit of the religious education which they themselves had in their youth--a training which has been helpful to the parents all along the journey of life.

We therefore extend this invitation to the community at large, whose duties do not require their presence at other services at the same time, to attend these services. A question box will be opened, and any appropriate question will be given consideration.

Respectfully,

H A. NOYES
