Full Text

From the Connecticut Mirror.

In October 1812, Bonaparte was in Moscow surrounded by his army threatening destruction to the mighty Russian Empire, boasting of himself as the sovereign of Europe, and denouncing death and destruction to men & nations, in the most arrogant terms: In April, 1814, at the end of eighteen short months, the Emperor of Russia, at the head of his victorious troops, and those of his allies, entered the gates of Paris, with a reasonable prospect of subverting the throne of the low-bred & blood-thirsty usurper, and reinstating the ancient line of sovereigns, which for twenty years past has been in exile, and dependent on charity for subsistence. The wise and the good reflect. & ponder, on these wonderful events--and, it is to be hoped, that the people of this country, will find it expedient, since the rest of the world is extracted from the fangs of this fell Destroyer, to redeem their own nation and government also.
