PAN-AMERICAN CONFERENCE IS OPENING TODAY

WASHINGTON, Dec. 10.—High praise for the part played by the Republics of South America in advancement of peace was expressed by President Coolidge today in welcoming the delegates to the Pan-American Conference on Conciliation and Arbitration.

Delving into the history of international relations on the Western Hemisphere, the Chief Executive cited instance after instance of conferences and treaties all looking to the cause of peace which he termed “milestones” that mark the way to future progress and the foundation of work of the present conference.
