Band Group Has Clinic

Along with representatives of bands from 15 other high schools in eastern North Carolina, eight members of Henderson high school band and their director, W. T. Hearne took part in a music clinic held at East Carolina Teachers college, Greenville. Saturday. Lamar Stringfield, of Charlotte well-known composer and former director of the North Carolina Symphony orchestra, was a special guest at the occasion. Earl A. Slocum, professor of music at the University of North Carolina and director of the band and symphony orchestra there was general director of the day. Sectional clinics were held in the afternoon by the directors of the North Carolina Bandmasters association.

New Bern, French horns: Allen Bone, Duke University, clarinets: Herbert Hazleman, Greensboro, oboes and bassoons, Robert Simmons. Elizabeth City. baritones and trombones: H. L. Goodrich, Sanford, saxophones: W. T. Hearne, Henderson, cornets; Earl A Slocum, University of North Carolina, flutes. A J. Wagner. Oxford, drums and Willard Burt. Raleigh, basses

Members formed a 90-piece band and presented a concert in Austin auditorium Saturday evening. playing selections including "Minuet and Albumblatt" by Handel, "The Bells of Saint Marys" by Adams, On the Mall March by Goldman. St. Louis Blues' by Handy and "The Football Match" by Fillmore

High school bands represented were Durham. Elizabeth City. Fayetteville Greensboro, Greenville, Henderson, Lumberton, New Bern, New Haven and Wilmington, Oxford. Roanoke Rapids, Rocky Mount Kinston, Sanford. Wilmington Junior High
