Gabriele Bernardes has been named minister of justice and Adolfo Bergamini, former federal deputy, as prefect of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Meanwhile the federal revolutionary forces which have been battling principally in Sao Paulo-Parana and the state of Minas Geraes are understood to have ceased firing.
The ousted president still is a prisoner in Fort Copacabana. It is understood he never has actually signed a decree of resignation but simply bowed to the military coup when he saw his stand was hopeless.
While the junta—composed principally of General Menna Barreto, General Leite de Castro, General Tasso Fragoso, Admiral Irajaes Moronha, Dr. Pandia Calogeras and advised by Cardinal Sebastiao Leme, one of the intermediaries in the negotiations with Washington Luis is awaiting the conference with revolt leaders from the field, it took steps today toward the reestablishment of normalcy.
Brazilian representatives abroad were ordered to inform foreign governments the overthrow of the government was a bloodless affair, aimed to unite the Brazilian people, and intended to establish stable government in Brazil.
