CHICAGO (AP) - Johnny Cleary, 4, is warming up in a hospital after spending more than an hour trapped in his family's home freezer.
He was discovered by his father, who noticed a chair standing near the closed freezer in the basement of the home Friday night.
Johnny's mother had phoned police, who were scouring the Cleary's southside neighborhood when Cleary returned from work and found the boy.
He was crouched in the freezer, half-conscious. He could barely move when his father found him.
At Holy Cross Hospital, doctors said Johnny's temperature was 95 degrees, nearly four degrees below body temperature. "And that was after he'd warmed up for some time," one physician said.
The boy's condition was described as fair.
