Full Text

Mr. Adams's Prospects.—We see evidence, in almost every newspaper that we open, no matter of what party it may be, that Mr. Adams's prospects as a candidate for the presidency of the U. States are every where brightening. The ultras of every political sect have indeed banded against him. Extremes, like the opposite poles of two magnets, naturally attract each other; but while they feel the influence of this mutual affinity, they are, at the same time, also naturally wrong. The reason of this is plain. Extremes are necessarily in the nature of exceptions, or they could not be extremes; and the broad mass of solid fact and substantial truth is always to be found between them. Thus the country has beheld the singular phenomenon of a union—a close and zealous union—between the ultra members of the old democratic party, and the equally ultra members of the old federal party, constituting, under their new connexion the supporters of Mr. Crawford.
