Full Text

The Hon. Andrew Stevenson.-Whoever may be nominated by the assembled representatives of the democracy of this great nation, now in session, for the high posts of President and Vice President of the United States, all will agree that a better selection, or one more universally approved, for president of the convention, could hardly have been made than the distinguished gentleman named above. Very able, full of experience-the result of a long career of distinguished public service in some of the highest posts— full of zeal in the democratic cause, firm, courteous, dignified; of popular and prepossessing manners, and with qualities admirably adapted to conciliate in a deliberative body, his selection does equal honor to the convention and to the democratic cause. May it be auspicious of an harmonious result now, and the result be auspicious of a brilliant triumph hereafter!-Pennsylvanian.
