ORTHOPEDIC CLINIC AT WOLF POINT DRAWS MANY: SERVICE FREE
The Crippled Children's clinic which was held in Wolf Point last Thursday, April 1, extended service to 60 persons.
This service was made available by the State Orthopedic Commission. Dr. E. M. Porter of Great Falls was the visiting clinician and was assisted by Drs. E. N. Jones and R. D. Knapp.
The clinic served persons residing in the northeastern part of the state, 11 from Valley county; 3 from Richland; 15 from McCone; 4 from Sheridan; 6 from Daniels and 21 from Roosevelt. Not all of these needed treatment. However, it is of interest to note that 36 children had never had previous orthopedic treatment for their deformities and arrangements are being made for follow-up work. Such as are in need for hospital care and treatment made appointments with the executive secretary, Miss Freda E. Miller, for further consideration.
In addition to the medical service, the Bureau of Rehabilitation was represented by C. B. Winsby who interviewed ten persons regarding future plans for vocational training.
The clinic was made possible by the co-operation of local organizations as the Knights of Columbus who made available their hall; the Sherman hotel supplied the necessary linens; the Presbyterian church supplied screens; the Red Cross and Junior League provided a mid-morning and mid-afternoon lunch. The public health nurses from neighboring counties assisted at the clinic.
