Full Text

The Republican accounts of the Dayton mob, at the Empire office, stated by way of palliation, that Captain Badger was drunk, and the fact had been communicated to Governor Brough—who had sought a reputation for having men dismissed by telegraph for being drunk. Has Governor Brough moved in the matter, or does the War Department consider the drunk palliated by the cause in which the captain was engaged? If that captain is not dismissed the President adopts the mob. The Chairman of the Military Committee—Mr. Schenck of Dayton—can remind him of the occurrence.
