We learn that in New-York the inhabitants are greatly distress'd, Every article of provision is scarce and dear.
A person just from the city informs us that the loaf which formerly sold for 6 coppers, sells for 24.
No fresh butter to be had, only some Irish butter, very strong, at three Shillings per lb.
Oak wood at 6 lb. per cord.
The tories are vary uneasy on account of General Heath's army being so near them : It is Said they are moving some of their effects out of the city to Staten-Island. O fine times ! who wouldn't fly to New-York for protection ?
