What is this article about?
The Martinsburg Gazette satirically criticizes Representative Bedinger for supporting a tariff bill that keeps a 30% duty on the poor man's log chain while only 10% on the rich man's gold watch chain, contradicting his past opposition to the 1842 'Black Tariff.'

THAT POOR MAN'S LOG-CHAIN.
We suppose there is not a man in this whole District who does not remember the denunciations of Mr. Bedinger against the "Black Tariff of 1842" because it laid a duty of 30 per cent. on the Poor Man's Log Chain, and only 10 per cent. on the Gold Watch Chain of the fop.
Now what think ye, poor men?—Mr. Bedinger has voted for a Tariff Bill which leaves this identical tax on your Log Chain while the fop sports his "gold riggins," at the same old 10 per cent.
We wonder if our Representative means to publish his speech; or is he content to sit in Eagle grandeur, with folded wings, upon the top of Harper's-Ferry Hill, where he came down upon the Oregon question in perfect imitation of "Old Zack's Gun."
