SAVANNAH FIRE CHIEF ACCUSED
OF BUYING VOTES IN RECENT
ELECTION.
Savannah, Dec. 16.-Walter C.
Hartridge, solicitor general of the
eastern judicial circuit, had warrants
issued against John H. Monroe, chief
of the local fire department, and J.
J. Garrity, who were very active in
the municipal primary Tuesday,
charging them with purchasing votes.
Warrants also have been issued
against half a dozen men who voted
in the election, charging them with
having voted illegally.
