The democratic papers have given the public to understand, that a mob at Baltimore compelled the release of an American seaman from the British brig Netly. But the friends of mobs have claimed an "honour" that does not belong to them.

A Mr. Blays, a democrat, has published. that the release was applied for at the request of the Collector; that the negotiation was friendly and polite, as the Captain said he had intended to release the man; that there was no riot, nor no angry word uttered. The man was discharged.
