The anniversary of independence was celebrated at Philadelphia with peculiar propriety;
It being Sunday, the society of the Cincinnati formed themselves into a body, preceded by his Excellency Governor Mifflin their President, and the Hon. Thomas McKean, Vice-President—and being joined by the corporation of the city with other civil and military officers, and a large concourse of respectable citizens—walked in procession to Christ Church, and there attended divine service—Doctor William Smith delivered a most excellent discourse adapted to the occasion. On Monday the society assembled and elected their officers for the ensuing year.
