The April term of the Circuit Court is now in its second week with Judges Beall and Camalier on the bench.
The Court has not had any criminal trials so far but has been engaged with civil trials. The following cases have been tried:
Holliday vs. Talliaferro.
Action for land rent, tried by Court. T. Van Clagett for Holliday and W. G. Brooke and Alan Bowie for Talliaferro. Verdict for Holliday.
Matthews vs. Pumphrey. Action for damages in closing road. Tried by a jury and verdict for Matthews for $10 and costs. Motion for new trial filed. Duckett for Matthews and Merrick and Bowie for Pumphrey.
Gates vs. Lyons. Action for debt. Tried by a jury. Verdict for Gates for $50 and costs. Motion for new trial filed. James W. Owen and S. Marvin Peach for Gates, Magruder and Stephen for Lyons.
Hutchins vs. Taylor. Action for debt. Tried by a jury and verdict rendered for Taylor. J. B. Gray for Hutchins and T. Van Clagett for Taylor.
Pusey vs. Kitchen. Verdict to give Plaintiff $30 damages. S. Marvin for Plaintiff: Wm. M. Lewin, for Defendant.
The Grand Jury adjourned yesterday and its report will be published next week.
