In a Peck of Trouble,

Our Savannah neighbors seem to be sadly in need of municipal reform. A correspondent of the Morning News informs that journal that the bonded debt of Savannah is $3,500,000, while the property of the city is valued at less than sixteen millions. The gross expenses and expenditures of the City of Savannah for the past three years amount to very nearly eight million dollars, and the excited taxpayers cry out for immediate retrenchment. Savannah, in a municipal sense, is as hard up as Charleston, but, at least, she has had a respectable city government, which we shall not get until the first week in November.
