On UMT Urged

GREENSBORO, N. C. —(AP)— R. Flake Shaw of Greensboro, executive vice-president of the North Carolina Farm Bureau, today urged farmers to consider the UMT bill before Congress and let their opinions be known to the state congressional delegation.

He said that a resolution adopted unanimously at the recent American Farm Bureau convention in Chicago opposed the universal military training bill.

Shaw said that "proper implementation of the program outlined at the convention could bring maximum defense with minimum expenditure, and at the same time conserve our manpower resources."

The appeal was directed to "the entire membership of the North Carolina Farm Bureau."
