The plans of the Modern Woodmen of America lodge of Bonners Ferry for the big district picnic to be held on August 28th, are proceeding even better than was anticipated and it is now believed that fully 2000 visitors will come here from Spokane, Coeur d'Alene Sandpoint, Newport, Hillyard, Libby, Troy, Eureka and other towns within a hundred mile radius of Bonners Ferry.
The plan to erect permanent buildings on the picnic grounds-the city park-have fallen through as the Woodmen could not arrange a deal for the disposal of the buildings after the date of the picnic. A huge dancing pavilion, refreshment stands and a grandstand will be constructed and work on this has already begun. The dance pavilion will be one of the largest ever built in this county and the dancing will continue during the afternoon and evening.
The Bonners Ferry Woodmen have been assured that the Forester team of the Coeur d'Alene M. W. A. will be here to compete with the Spokane team and the Bonners Ferry team and there will probably be several other competing teams from other towns.
It now seems assured that a special train will be run over the Spokane International railroad to accommodate the crowds from Spokane, Hillyard Coeur d'Alene, Newport, and Sandpoint.
The Woodmen of Bonners Ferry have undertaken a big job in their plans for the picnic of August 28 and Bonners Ferry people will undoubtedly gain from the money that will be spent by the visitors and the favorable publicity the district will receive Every effort should be made to encourage and assist the M. W. A. committee in charge of the picnic plans.
