Ilse Starts Serving Life Term in Prison

Attorney for Bomber Announces He Will Appeal Conviction

SAN FRANCISCO, Cal., Feb. 18.

Henry A. Ilse, Spokane fireman, yesterday began serving five consecutive sentences, two, the maximum, life imprisonment, in San Quentin Prison, while Attorney Alfred Stern of this city announced he would appeal the case.

Ilse was convicted of attempting to bomb the Cowles Publishing Company Building in Spokane, Wash.

Alleged errors including refusal of Superior Judge Isadore Harris to hear Ilse's story of his prosecution by a Spokane political ring are reasons for making the appeal.
