EARLY MORNING FIRE
Lively Blaze Yields to Quick Work of Firemen.

Prompt work on the part of the firemen prevented what might have been a serious fire at 4 o'clock Thursday morning. The blaze was in the kitchen of Way's bakery, 931 Main street, and was caused by the boiling over of a kettle of lard, the fire communicating to combustible material.

Two alarms were sent in, one from box 32 and one from box 24 and the department was on hand in an incredibly short time and the fire was soon extinguished.

It was confined to the kitchen, but goods stored in the cellar were damaged by water and smoke.

Damage about $500, covered by insurance.

One of the bakers, a man named Stuckey, had an arm badly burned.

Mrs. Way was burned out about three years ago, when she conducted a bakery on Walnut street.
