A Glorious Victory in Maine.
Chairman Manley, of the Republican State committee, telegraphs as the final result of the Maine election the following to the editor of the New York Tribune: "Official returns from every city, town and plantation in the State give Bodwell, Republican, for Governor, 14,000 majority over Edwards, Democrat. Our plurality on Congressmen is 17,000. The Republicans elect 148 members of the legislature and the Democrats thirty-five. Special effort was made by the Democrats to capture the legislature and defeat Hale, but he will be renominated by acclamation and elected by the largest vote ever thrown in Maine for United States Senator. Our victory, taking it all in all, is the greatest Republican triumph ever achieved in Maine."
