Full Text

ALTERED TREASURY NOTES.—We have read with great alarm, that altered treasury notes are in the field—fifties and hundreds raised from ones and twos. We have found in a newspaper, a description of the manner in which the cheat may be detected, and cutting it out have pasted it very carefully in the inside of our hat, for future reference.—It is so often that we are called upon to receive treasury notes of the denominations, fifties and hundreds, that we are deeply interested in the matter and beg that no one will carry off our hat by mistake or otherwise. We also scan with much care all one and two dollar bills that we receive, for fear that they may have been raised from fifties and hundreds. There is so much cheating going on nowadays around the terrestrial board that one scarcely knows where to look for it next.
