In Flaming Crash of Plane
In California Farmland

OAKLAND, Calif., (P)-An investigation Saturday was launched into the flaming crash of a four-engined plane Friday night which claimed the lives of 35 passengers and crewmen.

The Transocean Air Lines cargo plane, operated on lease from the Air Force, plummeted into a soggy cabbage field at Decoto, 20 miles south of here, minutes after clearing for a landing at Oakland Airport.

Alameda County sheriff, Capt Richard E. Condon, on the crash scene, confirmed that there were no survivors.

All passengers were Air Force personnel bound for the Far East.
