A number of manuscript volumes (believed 18), undoubtedly genuine, containing the Journal of the British House of Commons during the Protectorship of Cromwell, discovered among books and manuscripts of a literary society in New York that had remained undisturbed for many years. This journal was previously lost, with British historians using less authentic sources. Manuscripts likely brought by Regicides fleeing on the restoration to conceal proceedings. Traced into society's possession, found by an industrious searcher. Books not newly concealed, but contents now discovered for the first time; previously passed as old manuscripts curious only as writing specimens.
