As it is every year, we have begun another year with all of those wonderful things that we've received on that eve of the twenty-fifth to brighten our school days.
To start off with, not anything in the way of wear, we find A.D. Partridge very happy after the holiday because he says he can believe in Santa Claus (now) after he received a reply from a couple of girls from El Reno, Okla., applying for the position of a "Babe" that he requested in that letter to Santa.
And just to name a few other of those cherished gifts, we saw on the first day of school Charles Coleman and Kenneth Berryhill flashing blue corduroy shirts around; Jimmy King and Sammy Sixkiller not wearing coats on cold days just to show off their identification bracelets; and Clarice Mattwaoshe all smiles after she received a little fuzzy dog - a toy though.
Stella Poitra says that she liked the trip home during Christmas given to her by her kid sister. Wayne Postoak prefers his sky-blue orlon sweater among his many gifts, while Allen Nephew says he is going to enjoy the subscription to Life magazine that he received from his niece and nephew.
Other gifts that have caught the eyes of many students are Thomas Johnson's Indian-made watch band; Claudette Colbert's earrings and pin set; Charles Etta Foraker's plaid shawl; Wendell Irving's and Franklin Weso's pink shirts; and Freda Fisher's sparkler.
Probably a unique gift on the campus is the crying doll that Robert Hardy is so proud of.
A New Year's Eve dance was held December 31 in the boys' gym, sponsored by the Student Council. Refreshments were served to the students, and noisemakers were given out to bring in the New Year.
