IMMEDIATE INDEPENDENCE

Demand of Filipino Speakers at Bryan Banquet.

Manila, Dec. 30. - Filipinos who spoke at the banquet given to W. J. Bryan demanded the immediate independence of the islands and said they were looking to him to champion their cause with the American people.

Mr. Bryan in his response made no promises and the natives were disappointed. Aguinaldo was among those present. The menu displayed an American flag supported by an insurgent banner.

Americans here are pleased with Mr. Bryan's conservatism.
