Full Text

For the Sentinel.

Black vs. White Labor.

Knowing the true state of the affairs at the hotel alluded to in the communication of "Indiana," we will say that none of the help at the house intended to leave and would not have left had the new proprietor taken the right course, nor did they leave until the darkies employed to fill their place arrived in town. After the arrival of the crew of darkies the white men and women did not wait to be discharged, and who can blame them? Had the proprietor pursued the right course he would not have had any trouble. There is a difference between managing a hotel out West and managing a tailor shop in Ohio.

white hotel workers did not intend to leave until black laborers arrived to replace them; the proprietor caused the issue through poor management, unlike running a tailor shop.
