MAYOR PROHIBITED BOXING.

MANY OF THOSE PRESENT AT

ATHLETIC ENTERTAINMENT

DISAPPOINTED,

The athletic entertainment at the Huntington theatre last night was rather a disappointment to the greater portion of the medium sized audience. It was thought that there would be several sparring matches, but the order of Mayor Gordon that no sparring or boxing be permitted and the presence of city officers to enforce the mayor's mandate prevented carrying out this part of the program. The music furnished by the Huntington band and the Kentucky state band, and the wrestling contests were appreciated by the audience. The cake walking also excited applause. As for some of the specialties, the less said of them the better. Some of the features should not have been permitted.
