Carnival Slow Up
The response of the man on the street to the Virgin Islands Carnival planned for April 12, 13 and 14 has been enthusiastic. Troupes have been organized in short order, and participants, meaning almost the entire community, are talking about little else.
The one big disappointment has been the slowness with which money to finance this tremendous community undertaking is coming in.
Few persons have come forward with donations, and the Carnival Committee is reluctant to incur obligations unless it is sure that the funds are available to meet them.
With the Carnival less than a month away, we cannot afford to drag our feet much longer.
Last year the carnival proved to be a shot in the arm to business.
This year business will reap even more substantial profits.
The contribution it makes to the carnival should be considered as an investment which will be repaid several times over. The money is needed today.
Hotels, guest houses, restaurants, stores, gift shops, night clubs, and others have been called upon to make contributions. The response should be immediate and generous.
