LAYFIELD HOLDS TO LIFE.

Racked by fever, his neck broken and body paralyzed from the shoulders down, Robert Layfield, nineteen years old, son of W. A. Layfield, vice-president of the Atlas Powder Company, still is defying death at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore.

The youth who received his injury in a football game, was believed to be dying Saturday night and Mr. and Mrs. Layfield hurried to his bedside. Young Layfield, however, rallied and his condition is about the same as when he was first brought to the hospital. The wonderful vitality shown by the injured youth holds out hope that he may recover unless repeated relapses drain his strength.
