Full Text

A Small Strike in Greensboro.

Six carpenters at work on the buildings at the Normal struck Monday morning for an increase of wages from $1.25 to $1.50 per day. It appears that no notice was given of the strike until yesterday morning, when they sent for Dr. McIver and said unless they got $1.50 a day they would quit which they were allowed to do. Dr. McIver tells the Record that had they told him of the matter on Saturday and asked for an increase in a business-like way, instead of trying to force him, he might have acceded to their request, but when they tried to force him he didn't force worth a cent.
