NOW, MARIE!

Is This a New Way of Working an Old "Ad"?

PHILADELPHIA, Pa., Jan. 26.—Marie Burroughs, the actress, was robbed of a diamond brooch, two diamond pins, and a gold watch on Friday night, and, strangely enough, did her best to keep the affair a secret.

She entertained a party of friends at her hotel early in the evening and left them there on her departure for the theater, with instructions to give the key of her apartments to the elevator boy to be left at the office.

The boy, however, stuck the key up in the elevator, and when Miss Burroughs and her husband, Louis Massen, returned they found that the rooms had been entered, the trunks opened with false keys, and the jewels stolen.

All parties are very reticent about the affair.
