Dear Diary:
This morning the bugler blew the bugle and a bunch of sleepy boys started to get up one by one. By 7:15 we were all up and washing, brushing our teeth and getting ready for breakfast.
We had plenty of bacon and eggs and milk for breakfast. We started on the signs again. We worked for about 3 and a half hours.
At 12:15 Mr. Baker came out and were we surprised to see him. Well anyway he really got us to working on the street signs. We worked all afternoon and went fishing from 7:00 to 9:00.
Chuckie Wheeler caught two fish but most of us lost ours. So that's all for today.
Joseph Felder.
Monday
Dear Diary:
This is a story of Boy Scouts. This morning we got up at 7:00 and we had our breakfast at 8:00.
After we ate our breakfast we painted our signs. We did not do all the signs. Some of the boys made toy planes that should have painted their signs. We were out of salmon eggs and we have the eggs today, and we have some spinners from town.
The scouts are lucky that they get something they want. And the people give some too much for the Boy Scouts. I have enough today.
Roy Augnabogok.
July 30
Fog, rain, yet nice day. Men in the making. The South Seas, North Africa and Europe. Equipment yes, but the men behind the guns were made under the able leadership of Mr. B. G. Baker.
Scout Troop 666 of Nome had a fishing and hiking trip. The men cooked on an open camp fire with stone slabs as utensils. Each helping his buddy and sharing.
How true to the American way of life. How like our men over there.
Nome can well be proud of Scout Troop 666. These are the men of tomorrow. We need more Scouts. Be prepared. How proper and fitting the American Way.
Scout Troop 666 are thankful to the citizens of Nome for their opportunity and privilege for their outing.
Louis A. Bianchi,
Scout Master.
