The following is part of a letter received from St. John's, Antigua.

The commander of the Nimrod, an armed brigantine, of 16 guns, belonging to this place, going past Martinico, where two American vessels lay taking in arms, went and demanded them to be delivered up to him, but the commander of Martinico fort ordered him to depart, or he would detain him and his crew; the Captain immediately sailed here and informed the Admiral, who acquainted him, that he should have stood a few leagues to sea, and waited for the above vessels coming out of port, and then have made prizes of them.
