DUBLIN, August 15.
Last Tuesday the Liberties and Franchises of the City were ridden and perambulated by the Right Hon. the Lord Mayor, Sheriffs, and the twenty four Corporations, who made the grandest Appearance that hath been seen for seven Years past. -- The Ensigns and Pageantry to many Corporations were beyond Description, particularly those of the Butchers; who had several Men walking before them, dressed uniformly in white Holland Shirts, with blue Calico Sleeves, scarlet Breeches, white Stockings, and Axes on their Shoulders -- The Weavers had many Wool combers preceding them, dressed in a most regular Manner in white Shirts, red Sashes, white Stockings and Plumes of artificial Feathers in their Hats. -- Many Free Masons also walked in Procession, with the proper Ensigns Dresses and Decorations of that ancient and most honourable Society; preceded by a proper Person in a Regal Dress, representing King Solomon, arrayed in crimson Velvet and Embroidery, with a Crown upon his Head. -- The Cutlers, Painters and Stainers, had a most magnificent Wheel-Carriage, with a grand Canopy over it, supported by four gilt Pillars: -- On the Floor of this Carriage were Printing Types, and Press, at which was printed a Poem in Honour of the Noble Art and Mystery of Printing; of which liberal Profession, Emperors, Kings, Electors, and Sovereign Princes, have thought themselves honoured in being taught this most useful and learned Business, by having Printing Presses in their Palaces for their own Amusement. -- The Numbers of led and ridden Horses were the finest in the Kingdom, being selected from the best Studs in the Nation. The Richness of the Furniture, Bridles and Nets cannot be described. In short, a large Volume could not display the Magnificence of the different Corporations of that Day, which gave universal Satisfaction to the many hundred thousand Spectators, many Thousand of whom came from England and other Parts, to see this grand Cavalcade, which Sight cannot be matched in any other part of Europe.
