SPRINGFIELD, Ill., May 15.--Fire losses in Illinois during April amounted to $1,012,044, according to State Fire Marshal John G. Gamber's monthly report.
This loss was caused by 947 fires.
The total loss showed a decrease of $251,716 from March. There has also been a decrease in losses during the first four months of the year over the first four months of last year. The loss during the first four months of 1920 was $6,238,081, a decrease of $140,707.
As a result of the drive on dilapidated, fire-breeding buildings, fifty-three such structures were removed during the month.
