Endorsement Given Wallace Causes Big Split in AL Party

NEW YORK.
Jan. 8. -(P)- The State Executive Committee of the American Labor Party announced it had endorsed the candidacy of Henry A. Wallace for President, causing a split in the party.

Shortly after the announcement of the executive committee action was released to the newspapers, representatives of the powerful Amalgamated Clothing Workers, and the United Automobile Workers (CIO) walked out of the stormy closed meeting and announced their resignations from all posts.
