20th still at Hohenover. M. Broglio had fallen back to Erwite since his defeat on the 16th, and sent a large detachment to Paderborn. M. Soubise lay at Haarhans, with his right to Soest.
There has passed several skirmishes since the late battle, in which the allies had the advantage. In one of them Prince Ferdinand of Brunswick is said to have been wounded. Colonel Freytag has destroyed a large convoy of provisions between Cassel and Warbourg, and took from the French 700 horses besides ruining 2000 more, according to the enemy's own confession, by cutting their ham strings.
Hague, Aug. 1. Letters from the army of the 28th past, say, that M. de Soubise, after having sent a great reinforcement to M. Broglio, had passed the Roer, and was retired into the Mountains. Marshal Broglio had assembled all his troops at Paderborn; and that Prince Ferdinand was in full march after him. Colonel Freytag, since his destroying the French convoy of provisions, has also destroyed 20 boats laden with ammunition and corn, and burnt the French magazines on the Fulda and Werra.
