RADIO BODY GIVES O K TO DEBS STATION

Denies Prejudice Against Small Stations.

WASHINGTON—The federal radio commission announced today that it would extend the operating license of WEVD, operated by the Debs Memorial fund at Woodhaven, N. Y., which was to have expired Sept. 1.

Prejudice Is Denied

The commission denied that it is prejudiced against small stations. It said that it has been moved to eliminate some of them "largely because of the deluge of complaints of poor service and interference from people living in the vicinity of such stations."

Are Amply Justified

The recent public hearings, the commission continued, demonstrated that the great majority of the smaller stations have amply justified their continued existence.
