Capt. Laforey's letter to Mr. Stephens, dated Plymouth Sound, June 7.

The 29th May, in lat 46, 38. long, 9, 40, his Majesty's ship Carysfort, of 28 guns, fell in with, and after an action of an hour and a quarter, captured a French frigate (late the Castor, convoy to the Newfoundland fleet) commanded by M. L'Huillier, mounting 32 guns, and 200 men. Capt. L. then compliments the good conduct of his officers and men—and returns the loss of the Carysfort, 1 killed, 6 wounded—Le Castor, 16 killed, 9 wounded.
