It is in our power to add something to the above, of equal interest with anything it contains, and not inferior authenticity. Mr. Douglas was honored by an interview with the Empress of the French at the palace of St. Cloud, during which the Empress (who speaks English fluently and is perhaps better posted on American politics than any dignitary in Europe,) good naturedly, but very decidedly assured Mr. Douglas, that "Young America" may as well not disturb himself on the subject of Cuba. that he could not get it under any circumstances, and had better disabuse himself of the hope to do so Mr. D. speaks in the highest terms of the intelligence and vivacity of this lady.-Georgetown Independent.
