Full Text

Extract of a letter from a Member of Congress.

WASHINGTON, December 22.

"We have nothing new concerning the colonial trade, and it is quite uncertain what measure may be adopted by Congress. As we have many motions, resolutions and memorials proposing alterations in our tariff, and as these may raise expectations and excite speculations injuriously affecting the value of property, I think it proper to express to you thus early my impression, if any at all, will be made during the present session."
