PROVIDENCE, FRIDAY, AUGUST 17, 1827.
Congressional Election.—The choice of two representatives from this state to the 20th Congress, will take place on Tuesday, the 28th August.
TRISTAM BURGES and DUTEE J. PEARCE, recommended to the freemen by a numerous meeting of the friends of the administration, but presented to them with a still stronger claim upon their suffrages by the uniform zeal, intelligence, and fidelity that marked the discharge of the duties of these gentlemen as members of the 19th Congress, are the only candidates before the people. We presume no attempt, secret or open, will be made at opposition, and the election of Messrs. Burges and Pearce, by an almost unanimous vote, may be calculated upon with certainty. We hope, however, this consideration will not operate upon any freeman, friendly to the candidates and to the administration, so as to induce him to neglect giving them a vote. Let the approbation of a people never ungrateful to their faithful public servants, be evinced on the 28th, by a full vote for Messrs. Burges and Pearce.
