The Horace Ward case and the parents' suit against the Atlanta Board of Education will be the principal topics of discussion this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock when the Atlanta Branch, NAACP will hold a public meeting in Central Methodist Church, Rev. L. Scott Allen, pastor.
C. L. Harper, president of the local branch, also announced that five delegates and five alternates will be elected to attend the 43rd Annual NAACP Conference in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, June 25-29, 1952. Members of standing and special committees, especially those who participated in the 42nd Annual Conference which was held in Atlanta last year, are being urged by Mr. Harper to attend this afternoon's meeting. It is from this group that several of the delegates are proposed to be elected.
Robert Carter, Assistant Special Counsel of the NAACP has been conferring this week with local attorneys on the above mentioned cases. Horace Ward, Morehouse College honor graduate filed application for admission to the University in October, 1950 to eliminate segregation in the local system. The case was filed in the U.S. Court for the Northern District of Georgia It is the status of these two cases which will be explained at the branch meeting in Central Methodist Church this afternoon.
