to the hullaballoo of planning to get away is the task of rearranging family wardrobes, and making a note to worry about how the children will remember to wear a sweater when it is cold, and take it off when it is hot . . .

The Z.O.A. meeting last night is as good a send-off piece as one could find for a visiting Zionist . . . Seymour B. Liebman, the Z.O.A. Regional President, was quite informative with his analysis of the current events on the Israel scene . . . Cantor A. Marton told of his visit to Israel this summer with the Zimreut, and the boss told about the Zionist seminar in Hendersonville this summer, and it was most interesting . . . All in all it was a meeting with a very warm feeling . . .

As an organizational president I worry with other presidents about attendance at meetings . . . Yet, it must be admitted that the small vitally interested group is the best attendance one can hope for . . . It is not always the large, well-attended meetings which produce the best results, and I wonder if this is not also true of synagogue attendance, and the large congregations which metropolitan America is producing . . .

Large gatherings are good if the program is well punctuated with drama or humor, but when an even tone is carried out people find it very easy to lose themselves in the crowd . . .

I am really rambling today, but it is relaxing just to amble and . . . a luxury ranch-resort observing the dietary laws!

Getting ready for Atlanta and Chicago . . . The next two weeks will be convention weeks . . . The Zionist Youth Commission of this region meeting in Atlanta this coming week-end . . . Then the National Hadassah convention in Chicago the end of the month through November 2nd . . . I really feel like a country girl going to the big city . . . There will be over 3,000 women at the Morrison Hotel for the convention, and this is a "first" for me . . .

Why does the weather always change before we take a trip? . . . Thus adding ramble on in the middle of all this trip-preparation . . . Musings is a busy housewife's prerogative . . . Our mothers used to call it "worrying" . . . Do you remember how mamas of the past generation liked to worry . . . I often wondered about that . . . I think they actually enjoyed the mental exercise of worrying . . . Now, I think I can understand it . . . It was musing without an outlet ... Yet, while it must have been frustrating, there was a certain feeling of satisfaction in knowing that mama was keen enough to keep her mind on the problems . . . If she didn't have any she could always think up a few . . .

So, today I go the way of all mamas . . . With so much to do I find it expedient to forget about the packing and the advance menu-planning which I will have to leave for my family, and here I am worrying about large congregational meets on Rosh Hashonah . . . The boss says this column has to be in by noon . . . It is a quarter of ten and I should have been at a committee meeting at 9:30 . . . Where does the time go? ... This morning it went on a delightful conversation with Gladys Dubbin who just returned from a three-week visit in Paris, France . . . What with the card we received from the Ben Steins in London and the Cantor's reminiscence of his Israel trip we are getting the wanderlust again . . .

There was a notice also that Camp Blue Star has the opportunity of arranging its European tour this summer on the Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary wrapped up with a flight from Rome to Tel Aviv . . . Sounds like a most exciting arrangement, and although we have not been asked to publicize the tour I know the Popkins will like to hear from anyone who is interested . . .

I must be off now . . . There is a Ladies Hebrew Sheltering Aid opening luncheon this afternoon on the grounds of River Garden . . . On this cool, clear, sunny day I wouldn't miss visiting with our aging friends and enjoying some of the gefilte fish the Ladies make for our pleasure.

If I am not around next week we'll visit again after Chicago . . . Until then—be well.
