Full Text

On Sunday Last a certain Person well known about the Parish of St. James's, Westminster, was brought to the Bar of the King's Bench in Westminster Hall, on an Indictment against him, for sending Challenges to two Members of Parliament, for exposing him to a certain Lady of Quality, to whom he had the Presumption to pay his Addresses; to which he pleaded guilty, and was by the Court committed to the Prison of the said Court. This Man, it is said, was a Brewer's Servant in Dublin, and there enlisted himself into a Regiment on that Establishment, out of which he was drummed for some Crimes he had committed. He for some Time made a very extraordinary Figure here, going to all Places where People of Distinction resort; and about two Months-since published a remarkable Proof of his Gentility in one of the publick Papers, calculated, without Doubt, the more easily to impose on some fair one; but his Schemes, it is imagined, will now be marred or put a Stop to for some considerable Time.
