SPANISH GRATITUDE.

The Spanish consul, resident in this town, having transmitted to Spain, an account of the splendid festival given here, in March last, in honor of the Spanish patriots, has received the following acknowledgment of that illustrious body, acting for and in the name of Ferdinand 7th, the lawful sovereign of Spain:

TRANSLATION.

The supreme governing junta of Spain and the Indies, having seen the contents of your letter under date the 16th March last, in which you give information of the public dinner given by three hundred respectable citizens of your town, in honor of the Spanish patriots, to which you had been invited. His majesty has heard with the utmost satisfaction of the friendly demonstrations of the said American citizens, on the aforesaid occasion; and commands me to manifest to you that he is very much satisfied with the tokens you have given of your loyalty and adherence to the good cause of your legitimate sovereign, Ferdinand VII.
