SHORT COURSES
Raleigh, Dec. 8.—Inauguration of a series of short courses for farm youths of the state on practical phases of agriculture was announced today by Dean L. D. Baver of the State College School of Agriculture.
The first course, described by Dr. Baver as an innovation for State college, will begin January 14 and continue through March 1.
The eight-week course will offer training in the various phases of animal production.
Other courses, each dealing with a separate phase of agriculture, will follow at intervals. Each will be limited to 25 pupils.
According to Dr. Baver, the courses "were planned for scores of North Carolina farm boys who are interested in studying farming practices to the extent of receiving college degrees, but who need the practical uses of many agricultural skills which will be taught in the short courses."
The animal husbandry course, he said, "will fill a gap in the educational program that now exists."
He added that the animal husbandry department was the only department at the school which has facilities to handle the courses. However, facilities will be added in the near future to take care of the other courses, he said.
