July 23. A Court of Oyer and Terminer has lately been held at Salisbury, before the Honourable Richard Caswell, Esq; one of the Associate Justices of this Province, when several Persons were tried for Felonies, three of which were capitally convicted. The People of the interior Parts of this Province express much Satisfaction at these Courts being held among them, as the only Means, during the present Suspension of Courts of Justice, to protect them from that Licentiousness and Outrage which but too soon appeared after the shutting up our Courts of Law. The Marks of Esteem and Respect paid the worthy Judge, by all Persons in the back Country where these Courts are held, show the Uprightness of his Conduct, and their Approbation of his Appointment.
